SSSSUUUUEEEEYYYYY!!! The past few weeks have been an excellent kaleidoscope journey to be on. I’ve played in Chapin as a duo with Griffin Edwards on lead guitar, Sandy Run as a duo with Donald Pearson on Sax, as a FULL BAND (JD and the Marchers) in Newberry for 4/17 edition of Pork in the Park 2026! I also curated a showcase for local songwriters for the 4/18 edition of Pork in the Park 2026 that included Shiloh Woods and 30 Years on, both local artists I have met and knew would blow away the crowd!
Our next two gigs are at Porchfest in Augusta on May 3rd and at the SC Poultry Festival in Batesburg on May 9th. Porchfest is a free music festival featuring local bands to the CSRA (totally awesome)! SC Poultry Festival is one the of the biggest town festivals in South Carolina annually! We are excited to take on these shows and win some new fans and meet some awesome folks!
April 2026 Update:
It has been an excellent year so far for JD Boatwright! I have played shows all over SC and have enjoyed being in some showcases for Songwriters. I have also started gigging with my five piece band “JD and the Marchers” as we are tentatively titled. We have Donald Pearson on saxophone, Griffin Edwards on lead guitar, Scott Higdon on Bass, Russ Smith/Casey Dianne sharing the drums and JD Boatwright on vocals/ rhythm guitar/harmonica. We play Southern Soul mixed with Southern Rock and I call it Palmetto Music. We play some of my originals alongside Tom Petty, Grateful Dead, JJ Grey, Otis Redding, Willie Nelson and more. I hope to see you at one of our shows in the near future. We are playing at Pork in the Park on April 17th, 2026 in Newberry, SC from 5:30 to 8PM and then playing at the SC Poultry Festival in Batesburg, SC on May 9th from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
